Ipoh 2015

Part 1: Jalan-Jalan

27th - 28th Dec 2015

As-salamu'alaikum.

Another overdue blog entry. We left Taiping for KL after Zuhur on Sunday the 27th. Ipoh wasn't part of the trip initially. But qadarullah wama sha'a fa'al. The PLUS highway en route to KL from the northern part was heavily congested and after 2 hours stuck in the traffic jam (Taiping-Ipoh), we decided to stop by Ipoh and stay for a night before heading back to KL the next day. We managed to go sightseeing in and around Ipoh before we left for KL.

Gunung Lang Recreational Park

I came to know of this place after Dr Abdul Basit Abdul Rahman posted on his facebook, a video of him giving a short tazkirah at the exact same park few months earlier. The park has a scenic green landscape made up of limestone hills, gardens and man-made lakes that used to be tin mines. On the other side of the lake, there's a pathway that leads to a cave, but we were too tired to walk that far. And there's also a mini-zoo at the park where you can feed the animals. The park attracts locals and visitors alike especially in the morning and in the evening. Park-goers come here mainly to walk or jog at the park or simply to enjoy the scenic views and there are children playgrounds on both sides of the lake. To avoid the crowd it's best to come to the park at late morning or before noon.

Enjoying the morning breeze while waiting for our boat near the jetty.

The boat ride to the other side of the lake (the scenic side) costs about RM3 per adult person and half the price for children age 3-12 and senior citizens.

From the jetty, it takes around 5 minutes to get to the other side.

Some of the fishes inside the lake: Japanese carps and catfishes.

Faree'ah usually enjoys her time at places where there are plenty of flowers.

Luscious green: The garden area, at the background you can see a typical traditional wooden Malay house.

Ipoh

The town centre itself was quite a big place to cover in such a short time. Since we didn't have much time, we'd only drove around and stopped by at certain spots to snap some photos. Here are some of the highlights.

Kinta river front.

Rain trees across the river.

This place comes to life after sunset, but during daytime there's nothing much happening here.
